DBakel
Battle with your friends and the German train system in this rail management simulator! Flip rail switches to try to efficiently direct train traffic of a given color into the matching city! Play solo or battle over the keyboard with friends!
PRODUCTION:
DBakel was produced in 48 hours for the Franken Game 2025 with the theme "Everything is Connected". We embraced the theme modifier for Peer-To-Peer Networking and debuted the game on a screen-projected Linux server where the audience could connect via their cellphones and cause railway chaos, that original version is still available for download below. This game was later patched and ported into a local multiplayer variant for a browser-friendly version. We produced the code and 3D models you see excepting the local flora, fauna, and fax machines. Sound Effects were remixed from free sources online. Enjoy the game and... good luck!
ATTRIBUTION DATA:

ONLINE MULTIPLAYER VERSION:
A single device running Linux needs to open and run the game as the Server. Additional players can join and play by typing the private ip address of the Server:5000 into the browser of their choice on either another laptop or their cellular device, this IP address is displayed at the game's begin. Both Server and players need to be in the same LAN. The Server needs to whitelist external traffic through TCP-port 5000, otherwise players cannot connect.
Some browsers may notify players that the connection is unsafe. That is correct, sending sensitive information would be clearly visible for anyone intercepting the connection. The webpage content and train switch codes that the game transmits are not considered sensitive information.
